At Farmville Seventh-day Adventist Church, our beliefs are centered on Jesus, the Bible, and God’s plan to restore the world. While we share many beliefs with other Christian churches, these are the core teachings that shape our faith and mission.
1. The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s message to humanity. It helps us understand who God is, how much He loves us, and how we can live meaningful lives.
2. God
We believe there is one God who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Together, they work in perfect love to create, save, and guide us.
3. God the Father
We believe God the Father loves every person deeply. He cares about our lives and wants a relationship with us.
4. God the Son
We believe Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and offers salvation to everyone who trusts Him.
5. God the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit works in our hearts and lives today. He helps us understand God, grow in faith, and become more like Jesus.
6. Creation
We believe God created the world and everything in it. Human beings were created in God’s image and were designed to live in a loving relationship with Him.
7. Human Nature
We believe that sin entered the world and damaged God’s original plan. As a result, all people need God’s grace and forgiveness.
8. The Great Conflict
We believe there is an ongoing struggle between good and evil. Jesus has already won the victory, and one day evil will be completely removed forever.
9. The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus
We believe Jesus’ death on the cross paid the price for our sins. His resurrection gives us hope, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life.
10. Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift from God. We cannot earn it. We receive it through faith in Jesus Christ.
11. Growing in Christ
We believe God helps us overcome fear, guilt, harmful habits, and spiritual struggles as we grow closer to Him.
12. The Church
We believe the church is a community of believers who worship together, support one another, and share God’s love with the world.
13. God’s End-Time People
We believe God calls His people to share the good news of Jesus with the world and prepare people for His return.
14. Unity in Christ
We believe people of every race, culture, age, and background are equal in God’s eyes and belong together in His family.
15. Baptism
We believe baptism is a public expression of faith in Jesus. It symbolizes a new beginning and a commitment to follow Him.
16. The Lord’s Supper
We celebrate Communion to remember Jesus’ sacrifice and His love for us. It reminds us that we are part of God’s family.
17. Spiritual Gifts and Service
We believe God gives every believer unique talents and abilities to serve others and help build His kingdom.
18. The Gift of Prophecy
We believe God has guided His people through prophets throughout history and continues to provide guidance through the messages He has given.
19. God’s Law
We believe God’s commandments reveal His character of love and help guide us toward healthy relationships with Him and others.
20. The Sabbath
We believe the seventh-day Sabbath, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, is God’s special gift of rest, worship, and time with family and community.
21. Stewardship
We believe everything we have ultimately belongs to God. We honor Him by managing our time, abilities, finances, and resources wisely.
22. Christian Living
We believe following Jesus influences how we live, speak, treat others, and care for our bodies, minds, and relationships.
23. Marriage and Family
We believe strong families are important to God’s plan. We seek to build homes marked by love, commitment, respect, and grace.
24. Jesus’ Ministry in Heaven
We believe Jesus is alive and actively working on our behalf in heaven, offering grace, help, and hope to all who come to Him.
25. The Second Coming of Jesus
We believe Jesus will return to earth one day. His return will be visible, personal, and bring hope, justice, and restoration.
26. Death and Resurrection
We believe death is a temporary sleep until Jesus returns. At that time, those who have trusted Him will be raised to life again.
27. The New Earth
We believe God will create a new earth where sin, suffering, pain, and death will never exist again.
28. God’s Eternal Kingdom
We believe God’s plan ends with the complete restoration of all things. His people will live with Him forever in a world filled with peace, joy, and love.
